Hi, I’m Gillian, a graphic designer with a passion for clean, beautiful design and a particular love of thoughtful layouts, striking colour palettes, and captivating photography. I believe good design should not only look great it should communicate clearly and leave a lasting impression.
I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Alberta College of Art and Design, a Graphic Design Certificate from the University of Calgary and have studied Art History at the University of Alberta. The combination of studying fine art and design has shaped how I approach visual problem-solving through creativity, clarity and purpose. I’ve worked on a wide range of projects from branding for small businesses to production work within larger, established companies. Art direction for photography and video have been some of my favorite projects. I enjoy the entire design process, especially the challenge of turning abstract ideas into clear visual stories.

I’m an artist, endlessly inspired by the natural world—especially the one I grow myself. Gardening is my happy place, whether it’s vegetables, flowers, or the quiet rhythm of nurturing the plants which often find their way into still-life photographs on my kitchen table. I live in a very old house and am almost always in the middle of a house project, which feels like another way of tending to things with intention and care. A good day usually includes my dog, my garden, and some kind of making. I grew up as a dance kid and still love the ballet for its blend of movement, music, costume and set design. My creative path has been a winding one, from studying art history and traveling in my twenties, to art school where a love of drawing evolved into a fascination with craft which led to a major in jewelry and metalsmithing. Eventually I came full circle, returning to drawing and finding my place in graphic design.
